If a TOEFL or IELTS test is required by the partner university you are applying to, it should preferably be done before applying for exchange studies. If you can't manage to take a test before applying, it can be taken afterwards - however please remember that you are risking not to obtain the requested score.

Please check each partner university's requirement on our website, and don't forget to upload a test result with your online application, if relevant.

Dates and deadlines spring semester 2018

September 5 - 15 
The Online Application is open.  
Your application must be completed latest by September 15 at 23.59
September 21 Allocation of spots is presented

Autumn semester 2018

1 February
Application must be completed latest by 23:59
5 February Last day to complement your application with a Transcript of Records (NOTE! only for students who didn't have all grades reported by February 1)
1 March Allocation of spots is presented
15 March Last day to accept/deny offered spot
After 15 March Second application round opens

Application process

Applications are made online, a link to the application form will be published at this page during the application period. You should also print your application, including all the attachments, and submit it to the International Office. 

Together with your application, the following documents should be uploaded:

• Transcript of Records from the School of Business, Economics and Law. Note! Students on their first semetser, applying for the upcoming spring semester, do not have to upload Transcript of Records. 
• Personal motivation letter in English. Motivate why you would be a good representative and ambassador for the School of Business, Economics and Law and how you would benefit from an exchange.
• 1 photo
• CV (English or Swedish)

Course selection

All Graduate School students should, after looking up the course offer at the partner university, present this to Eva Ragnarsson Sponås, who will help you to have the course selection approved by your programme coordinator. This should be done prior to applying for an exchange spot.
Students at the IBT programme should have their course selection approved by Mikael Hilmersson, please use this form.

Selection process

Allocation of exchange spots will be based on the student's grades as well as the personal motivation letter. Only studies undertaken at the GS at the School of Business, Economics and Law at the University of Gothenburg will be taken into consideration.

Travel scholarships

Students at the School of Business, Economics and Law at the University of Gothenburg that have been accepted to exchange studies for at least one semester can apply for travel scholarships.

Sublet your room to an incoming exchange student!

The University of Gothenburg are members of www.housinganywhere.com; a platform that outgoing exchange students can use to sublet their rooms while abroad. It is free of charge and you will at the same time help the university to increase the supply of accommodation to incoming exchange students.


If something happens during your stay abroad, download Claim Form.
Fill out explaining what has happened andsummarize your expenses. Send it to International Office together with original receipts of your expenses:

The International Office forwards the Claim Form to Kammarkollegiet together with a certificate stating that you are covered by the insurance, plus a copy of our agreement of cooperation.
Reimbursement is paid to your account
